Unfulfilled expectations

Although this play has garnered multiple Emmy awards and has received glowing reviews over the years, both my wife and I did not think it lived up to its reputation. Don't get me wrong, the subject matter and irreverent nature of the plays' portrayals did not offend in the slightest and there were multiple humorous episodes enjoyed but it just did not have that "Wow" factor. The set design and choreography were both excellent however the sound performance was sub par at best. The sound levels were much too loud for the venue and interfered a great deal with understanding many of the lyrics being sung and it definitely detracted from our enjoying the performance.
